22 LA Cargo Train Thieves Busted By LAPD For Stealing $18 Million In Goods

  • 22 Railroad cargo thieves were busted by an LAPD taskforce for stealing $18 million dollars in packages. Authorities believe the arrests have shut down a criminal network, but say there are more out there stealing from cargo trains.
  • Authorities say the calls regarding these train robberies are down 68% since the task force was created. Rail companies now have additional barriers and hi-tech cameras around restricted areas along the railways. Stronger locks and an increase in security have also been implemented.
  • Viral photos and videos of the trainyard hit social media last holiday season showing thousands of discarded empty boxes and packages strewn about.
