Man Pleads Guilty to Hate Crime Against Spitzer

SANTA ANA (CNS) - A 33-year-old man pleaded guilty Friday and was immediately sentenced to 38 days in jail for threatening Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer, his family and his staff in a hate crime.

Michael Joseph Brady pleaded guilty to four counts of criminal threats and three counts of threatening public officials, all misdemeanors, and one felony count of threatening public officials with a sentencing enhancement for a hate crime, according to court records.

Brady was also placed on two years of formal probation.

Further details were not immediately available. The District Attorney's Office conflicted off the case and it was taken over by the state Attorney General's Office.
