ANAHEIM (CNS) - A 22-year-old man was charged today with killing his roommate in Anaheim.

Marlon Gutierrez Garcia was charged with murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon. The weapon was a knife, according to the criminal complaint.

Garcia is accused of killing 59-year-old Santos Castillo, according to Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Shane Carringer.

Officers were sent to the 500 block of North Philadelphia Street, two blocks east of Anaheim Boulevard, about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday ``after receiving a call of an adult male subject at a residence in violation of a court order,'' Carringer said.

``Officers responded in order to contact the subject who was to be removed from the location per authority of the court,'' Carringer said.

``Officers arrived on scene and attempted to contact the subject in question who was outside upon their arrival.

``The subject attempted to flee back into the home via an already-broken glass window,'' Carringer said. ``The subject caused lacerations to himself in his attempt to escape but he was successfully detained by responding officers.''

Officers searched the residence and found the body of a man ``who appeared to have suffered trauma,'' Carringer said.

Garcia was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries and was then booked, Carringer said.
