Asparagus People Attempt To Save Garlic Festival

The cancelled Gilroy Garlic Festival could end up happening after all -- if the people behind the San Joaquin Asparagus Festival have their say in the matter.

  • After learning that the 42-year-old Garlic Festival had been called off, the people behind the Asparagus Festival immediately offered to host the event. "We heard the extremely sad news that the Gilroy Garlic Festival will not be holding their annual big Garlic festival," reads a Facebook post by the Noceti Group, which organizes the Asparagus Festival. "We just couldn’t let that happen!"
  • However, the news has apparently left a bad taste in the garlic lovers' mouths. Organizer Ken Christopher says he believes the group is attempting to turn the garlic fest's misfortune into their own profitable venture. "If the Noceti group is earnestly trying to have a garlic promotion in their hometown, God bless them," Christopher says. "But claiming to bring back the Gilroy Garlic Festival, without comment or cooperation from our association, board, or president is malicious."
  • Are the garlic people being a little too nit-picky?
