MLB has another sign-stealing scandal on its hands - and this one involves the New York Yankees.
- According to a 2017 letter made public on Tuesday, the Yankees used the team's replay room to steal signs during the 2015 and 2016 seasons, then used dugout phones to relay the info to players.
- The Yankees' chicanery was uncovered during a separate sign-stealing investigation into the Red Sox, and resulted in an undisclosed fine.
- The 2017 Astros scandal - which involved banging on trash cans to alert players of upcoming pitches - resulted in yearlong suspensions for manager A.J. Hinch and GM Jeff Luhnow.
- Here's where things get REALLY juicy - just last month, Yankees GM Brian Cashman claimed that the Yankees would have won the 2017 World Series if the Astros hadn't cheated - calling their actions "illegal and horrific".
- Oh yeah - and the Yankees had been trying to keep this letter quiet, until a federal judge denied the team's request to keep it sealed.
