LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education will re-open its meetings to the public for in-person attendance today.

Board President Kelly Gonez said last month the meeting room at LAUSD headquarters, 333 S. Beaudry Ave., will be limited to reduced audience capacity to allow for social distancing. Attendees will also be asked basic screening questions to ensure they have not been exposed to COVID-19, she said.

Mask-wearing will be strongly recommended for audience members, but not required.

According to Gonez, the board will continue to allow the public to speak during meetings telephonically.

The general public comment session -- for people to bring up issues not on the board's agenda -- will be at a set time of 4 p.m. during each meeting, she said.
