San Jose Cops Arrest 35 Accused Sex Predators in Sweeping Bust

Police in San Jose have released the photos of 35 accused sexual assault suspects who were taken into custody in a recent operational sweep.

Each of the 35 suspects had an outstanding warrant on sex crime charges ranging from misdemeanor sexual assault to felony rape, according to the San Jose Police Department.

"Many times, sexual assault suspects they’re not limited to just one victim," says Sgt. Christian Camarillo. "Sometimes they start with an assault that can escalate to a rape."

However, Nelson McElmurry, a lawyer who's representing one of the arrestees, says publicly humiliating the accused people isn't fair -- especially since he claims his client is innocent.

"It just made it seem like he was involved in this larger, sexual assault scheme, if you will," McElmurry says.
