Disneyland’s ‘Mickey’s Toontown’ Redesign Takes Shape

One of the six immersive zones within Disneyland is set for closure on March 9th as a major facelift is on the horizon for Mickey’s Toontown.

Fans shouldn’t fear, though, as once the transformation is complete, popular attractions like Roger Rabbit’s Cartoon Spin and Mickey’s and Minnie’s houses will return. Additionally, fans can look forward to there being some new offerings among their favorites.

The reimagined Toontown is set to open in early 2023, as details of what’s to come were shared via a Disney Parks blog on Thursday. Other attractions in Toontown like Gadget’s Go Coaster, Goofy’s House and Donald’s Boat “will be reimagined in new and exciting ways.”

Arguably, the most exciting addition to Toontown will be a new ride called Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which will be Disneyland’s “first major Mickey-themed ride-through attraction.”

Guests will also be introduced to CenTOONial Park, a family-friendly natural space near the land’s entrance. This area will feature interactive play experiences that will surround a fountain, which will include a unique nighttime spectacle, according to the blog post.

“The newly reimagined Mickey’s Toontown will be a welcoming place where families and younger guests can connect and paly together in fun new ways,” says Josh D’Amaro, the chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products after the closure was first announced.

March 8th will be the official closure date of Toontown as we know it, so be sure to visit while you can!
