Robot Dogs Could Soon Patrol US-Mexico Border

"Robot Dogs" could soon help patrol the U.S.-Mexico border, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
  • DHS officials said the robot dogs would be a great asset, especially because of the rough landscape along the 2,000 mile long border.
  • They can reportedly transmit real-time video and other data back to human operators while climbing over sand, rocks, and hills.
  • The robots can also explore confined spaces, have long-range and night vision cameras, plus sensors to identify drugs and chemical weapons.
  • No specifics were released as to when or how many of the robot dogs might be deployed.
  • Does this seem like a good idea -- or a waste of taxpayer money
