SANTA ANA (CNS) - Two transient brothers have been charged with attempting to kill a man in Garden Grove following a fight, according to records obtained today.

Michael Ryan Gregg, 31, and Eric Joseph Hernandez, 23, were accused in the shooting of the victim Sunday night in the 11000 block of Trask Avenue, according to police. Officers were dispatched about 8:50 p.m. to the block, where they found the victim, who was shot in the legs, police said.

The victim was hospitalized, but was expected to survive, police said.

The victim got into a fight with Gregg, and after the scuffle Gregg returned to the area with his brother, Hernandez, to confront the victim, police said. Hernandez is accused of firing multiple rounds from a handgun, striking the victim three times, police said.

Gregg is charged with conspiracy, attempted murder and unlawful taking of a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe, all felonies, and possession of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine, according to the criminal complaint.

Hernandez is charged with conspiracy and attempted murder, both felonies. They both face sentencing enhancements for being armed with a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Gregg was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana, and Hernandez pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in the jail courtroom and was ordered to return to court for a pretrial hearing on Feb. 24.
