LOS ANGELES (CNS) - In light of the declining number of COVID-19 cases among court personnel in the Central District of California, federal courts will resume civil and criminal jury trials on Feb. 22 -- the earliest date jurors can be called in for service.
The Central District continued its suspension of jury trials last month due to the spread of Omicron, the new virus variant that causes COVID-19, within the region's federal courthouses.
But in a decision announced Tuesday, the courthouses will resume full operations in two weeks.
Central District courthouses are located in Los Angeles, Riverside, Pasadena and Santa Ana.
Anyone seeking entry to one of the courthouses -- and everyone in the courtroom for in-court proceedings -- must follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's most recent guidance regarding face coverings or masks, Clerk of Court Kiry K. Gray said.
