Officers in Seal Beach arrested a man inside a CVS Pharmacy, who moments earlier allegedly placed a knife to a man's throat in the parking lot of the retail store, authorities said today.

``The suspect's motivation for this seemingly random assault is unknown,'' said Lt. Nick Nicholas of the Seal Beach Police Department. ``This is an ongoing investigation.'' The victim told police he had parked his vehicle and was exiting it when he was approached by the suspect, who pulled out a knife and held it inches away from his neck, Nicholas said.

``The suspect did not say anything, nor did he demand money or property. The victim feared for his life,'' he said. ``Seconds later, the suspect withdrew the knife from the victim's neck and entered the CVS Pharmacy. The victim was uninjured.'' Police were dispatched to the scene at 921 Pacific Coast Highway at 8:15 a.m. Friday, where they contacted Christopher Patino-Guzman, 20, of Arlington, Virginia, and arrested him without incident on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Patino-Guzman was later booked at the Orange County Jail.

Seal Beach police detectives urged anyone with information regarding the incident to call them at 562-799-4100, ext. 1109.
