HOLLYWOOD (CNS) - Three people were injured today -- two seriously -- when a car crashed into a building in the Hollywood area.

Paramedics were sent to the 4600 block of West Hollywood Boulevard at about 12:20 p.m., according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The vehicle ended up penetrating several feet into a restaurant, injuring the motorist and two people believed to be patrons, Humphrey said.

It was unclear if the patrons were dining inside the building or outside, Humphrey said.

The three people were hospitalized. The driver, believed to be in his or her 80s, was in unknown condition. The restaurant patrons, a man and a woman in their mid-20s, were listed in serious condition, Humphrey said.

``All remaining occupants of the two-story building that contains apartments above the restaurant, as well as downstairs retail store, have been temporarily moved outdoors until the damaged structure can be formally assessed for structural integrity by an L.A. Department of Building (and) Safety Inspector,'' Humphrey said.
