PLAYA DEL REY (CNS) - A man was allegedly stabbed to death by his son after an argument escalated into violence in Playa del Rey, and the suspect was taken into custody following a police pursuit, authorities said today.

Los Angeles Police Department officers were called at 6 p.m. Tuesday to a home in the 200 block of Redlands Street after a report that two people had been stabbed, LAPD Officer Lizeth Lomeli said.

A man died at the scene and a woman was taken to a hospital in unknown condition for treatment of stab wounds, Lomeli said. Her relationship to the man and suspect was not known.

The fatally wounded man was identified by the Los Angeles County coroner's office as Harvey Lee Huddleston, 77, of Playa del Rey.

The suspect fled before police arrived, but was later arrested after a pursuit and car crash in Westchester. His name was not immediately available.
