Boy Killed, Two Others Wounded in Shootings in Wilmington

WILMINGTON (CNS) - An 11-year-old boy was killed and two others, including a 9-year-old girl, were injured in two separate shootings in Wilmington today.

The shootings were both reported about 4:45 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The first shooting occurred in the 1400 block of East Denni Street, between Pacific Coast Highway and Anaheim Street, and a 9-year-old girl was taken to a hospital in moderate condition.

The second shooting occurred about eight-tenths of a mile away in the 800 block of North Eubank Avenue near East Anaheim Street, according to the LAFD.

A 25-year-old woman was taken to a hospital in moderate condition, and an 11-year-old boy was taken in critical condition.

The Los Angeles Police Department later reported the boy died of his injuries at the hospital. His name was not released.

It was not immediately known if the shootings were related, nor if any suspects were taken into custody.
