Mayors across the United States are befriending Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to hopefully obtain federal grants under new infrastructure law President Biden signed a few weeks back.

There are currently billions of dollars that are up for grabs after President Biden signed the infrastructure law earlier this month. Mayors from all over the nation are reaching out to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in hopes of obtaining some money for their projects.

The infrastructure law has $660 billion dedicated to the Transportation Department, that Buttigieg oversees.

It is said that mayors from Miami-Dade to Sacramento are desperately reaching out to Buttigieg to get their hands on some of the cash.
Buttigieg was formally the mayor of South Bend, Indiana and is definetely friends with some of the mayors across the nation.

Buttigieg commented on the potential opportunities for local officials with this new infrastructure law. He said:

“The job of mayor I continue to agree is the most important and difficult and demanding in government. It’s only gotten more so since I left my time as mayor, although I will say it would have been nice when I was mayor to have this big of an infrastructure fund coming my way,”

Kansas City Mayor, Quinton Lucas commented on Buttigieg having some new "best friends" all of a sudden.

“He’s got a lot more people who are his friends now, or best friends,”

It seems like Buttigieg holds the keys to the kingdom for many mayors across the nation.

John & Ken will be discussing this on today's show - tune into KFI-AM 640 from 2 pm - 6 pm!
