Teen's Attempted Suicide Prompts Anaheim School to Dismiss Classes

ANAHEIM (CNS) - An Orangeview Junior High School girl was hospitalized in critical condition today after attempting to take her own life, triggering a lockdown and then the dismissal of all students on campus for the day.

The girl, whose name was not released, is 12 to 14 years old.

Police were called to the school at 3715 W. Orange Ave. at 8:30 a.m., according to Sgt. Shane Carringer of the Anaheim Police Department.

Another student walked into a bathroom on campus and saw the girl, prompting the call to police, who attempted to revive her until paramedics arrived on scene, Carringer said.

The girl was taken to an area hospital, where she was in critical condition, Carringer said.
