East L.A. Crash Involving Sheriff's Department Vehicle Results in Injuries

Crime scene investigation, police do not cross, yellow boundary tape

EAST LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department SUV slammed into a traffic-light pole in East Los Angeles today, heavily damaging the vehicle and resulting in at least two injuries.

The crash was reported about 10 a.m. near Third Street and Mednik Avenue, according to the sheriff's department.

The circumstances of the crash were unclear, but video from the scene showed that the SUV slammed head-on into a pole on the corner, causing extensive front-end damage to the vehicle.

ABC7 reported from the scene that two people were injured, one with moderate injuries and one with minor injuries. According to the station, authorities did not specify that the injured people were deputies.
