Viral TikTok Video Allegedly Exposes Costco's Very Lax Return Policies

It would seem as though there are no limitations on Costco’s return policy, as a TikTok user claiming to be an employee for the company shared a video revealing some of the wildest refund requests she’s received, ranging from 5-year-old bedsheets to a dead Christmas tree!

The clip has gone viral, having been viewed over 3 million times. One user commented, asking “Can I return this pie even [though] there’s only a quarter of it left?” Hannah, the TikToker that shared the video, replied, “SURE! Here’s ur money back.”

Fans of the video commented to share their takes on the return policy. One user shared, “Costco also has the right to refund the person’s membership if they are abusing the return policy. My husband was warned.”

Costco’s return policy states that members have a “risk-free 100% satisfaction guarantee.” Additionally, the wholesaler “guarantees your satisfaction on every product [they] sell, and will refund your purchase price, with the following exceptions.” These exceptions include electronics (within 90 days), cigarettes, alcohol and diamonds over 1.00 carat. Tires and batteries are also included in the exceptions as they have a limited useful life expectancy.

Back in 2018, a customer brought her dead Christmas tree back for a full refund 10 days after Christmas! “My social anxiety could never,” wrote one viewer in the comments on the TikTok video. “I’d be so embarrassed.”
