Award-winning actor Michael K. Williams has reportedly died at the age of 54 years old. According to NBC 4 in New York, Williams was found in his East River waterfront apartment with drug paraphernalia. However, those details have not been confirmed and the city's medical examiner has not determined a cause of death.

“It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Emmy nominated actor Michael Kenneth Williams. They ask for your privacy while grieving this unsurmountable loss,” publicist Marianna Shafran told The Hollywood Reporter.

After learning of Williams's passing, a number of actors, directors and entertainers took to social media to honor the late actor's memory.

"Michael K Williams was truly a class act. Seeing him work on the set of Lovecraft Country blew me away. Not only was he warm and kind, [but he was also] so generous with his spirit and energy. He treated us like old friends. I’m keeping his family and loved ones in my thoughts. Such a loss," actor Darryl Stephens tweeted.

"Michael K Williams was one of the best to ever do it. And was a really warm, sweet man the few times I had the pleasure of meeting him," Game of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel added.

As previously noted, Williams is an accomplished actor, dancer, producer and all-around artist whose career extends nearly 30 years. He is best known for his roles as Omar Little in The Wire and Chalky White in Boardwalk Empire. Not to mention, he starred in films like 12 Years A Slave, Lovecraft Country, Django Unchained, When They See Us, Brooklyn's Finest and The Sopranos. Beyond the world of film, Williams also worked as a backup dancer for stars like George Michael and Madonna. Over the course of his career, Williams earned five Emmy Award nominations.
