Afghan Refugee On U.S. Evacuation Flight, Gives Birth When Plane Lands

An Afghan woman being evacuated on a U.S. flight gave birth on the plane moments after landing at Ramstein airbase in Germany on Saturday.

  • U.S. officials said the woman gave birth to a baby girl with the help of medics in the cargo bay of a C-17 aircraft after going into labor during the flight.
  • The woman was part of a group fleeing the Taliban in Afghanistan.
  • The mother and baby were taken to a local hospital and were said to be in good condition.
