Little Change to Average LA County Gas Price

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped two-tenths of a cent today for the second consecutive day after changing by one-tenth of a cent or being unchanged for four consecutive days.

The average price of $4.389 is one-tenth of a cent higher than one week ago, 3.7 cents more than one month ago and $1.181 greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has risen $1.157 since the start of the year.

The average price dropped one-tenth of a cent on Sunday, rose one-tenth of a cent Monday and Wednesday and was unchanged Tuesday.

The Orange County average price recorded its largest daily decrease since Oct. 3, dropping eight-tenths of a cent to $4.357, one day after rising three-tenths of a cent. The average price is two-tenths of a cent less than one week ago but 4.2 cents higher than one month ago and $1.165 more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price has risen $1.149 since the start of the year.

The Orange County average price dropped one-tenth of a cent on Sunday and Tuesday and rose one-tenth of a cent on Monday and Wednesday.

“Although we haven't seen an impact on gas prices yet, the price of crude oil has dropped a couple of dollars per barrel this week based on concerns over increased COVID-19 cases and declining economic activity globally,'' said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.

“Driving demand in California remains strong at the end of summer, so we haven't seen an immediate drop in retail gasoline prices.''
