SYLMAR (CNS) - A stretch of the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway in Sylmar is scheduled to be closed this weekend for paving work, starting tonight.

The westbound 210 between Roxford Street and the Golden State (5) Freeway is to be closed for 55 hours starting at 10 p.m. Friday and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday, according to Caltrans.

The closure will also include the westbound 210 Freeway on-ramps at Polk, Roxford and Yarnell streets, as well as the off-ramps at Yarnell and Paxton streets.

Motorists are advised to use the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway as an alternate route to reach their destinations, and to avoid the area of the full closure,

Caltrans also advised that residents and businesses in the area may be affected by noise, vibrations and dust associated with the scheduled work.

The work is part of a $135.5 million project that repave all lanes of the 210 from Wheatland Avenue to the 5 Freeway. Overhead signs, traffic loop detectors, center median barriers and guard rails will also be upgraded.
