PASADENA (CNS) - A 17-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly trying to hold up a man outside a Pasadena Starbucks before crashing his car into another vehicle and fleeing on a skateboard, authorities said today.
The teen stopped a 41-year-old Valley Glen man in the Starbucks parking lot at 9:26 a.m. Friday and accused him of cutting him off in traffic, Pasadena Police Lt. Anthony Burgess told City News Service.
The man told police he had no recollection of that. He said the teen pulled a handgun from his waistband and demanded money from him, Burgess said.
The man simply walked away and the teen left the scene in a red Honda sedan.
The same officer who responded to the Starbucks incident was called ashort time later to a hit-and-run crash at Hill Avenue and Mountain Street, according to the lieutenant.
No one was injured but the teenage boy was arrested while trying to ride a skateboard away from the crash, Burgess said. Both victims positively identified the suspect and the attempted robbery victim identified the car but a handgun was not found, police said.
The teen, who police say did not have a driver license, denied the robbery attempt, then ``abruptly refused to talk about anything,'' the lieutenant said.
The boy was booked for suspicion of attempted robbery and misdemeanor hit-and-run.
