Man Suspected of Assaulting Officer Taken Into Custody After Pursuit

COMMERCE (CNS) - A man suspected of assaulting a California Highway Patrol officer was taken into custody in Commerce today after leading police on an approximately half-hour pursuit that began in Artesia.

Police began pursing the man driving a white sedan at about 5:25 p.m. in the area of Pioneer Boulevard and Ashworth Street in Artesia after he allegedly tried to ram his car into a CHP officer, CBS2 reported.

The man led police on streets through the Vernon and Boyle Heights areas, clipping a red truck and a blue sedan before turning eastbound onto Ferguson Drive.

The man made his way to Commerce where a tow truck turned left in front of his car, causing him to crash his sedan into the back of the truck and become wedged under its bed at about 5:55 p.m.

Los Angeles Police Department officers pinned the sedan against the truck and took the man into custody shortly afterward.
