Man Taken Into Custody After Jumping From Taxiing Plane at LAX

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A man was taken into custody after jumping out of a taxiing airplane at Los Angeles International Airport tonight.

The man opened a service door and jumped out of the United Express flight to Salt Lake City as it was pulling away from a gate at about 7:10 p.m., NBC4 reported.

The man allegedly tried to open the cockpit door several times before jumping from the plane, FOX11 reported.

Airport police arrived at the scene and took the man into custody with unknown injuries. His name was not released.

No one else was injured in the incident and the plane taxied back to its gate.

Airport police and the FBI were investigating the matter as a possible hijacking attempt. No further details were released.

The incident marks the second security breach at LAX in two days. A man was taken into custody at LAX Thursday after driving his car through a fence and onto a runway, leading police on a brief pursuit.
