LONG BEACH (CNS) - Murder and other charges were filed today against a 20-year-old man accused in a suspected gang-related shooting in Long Beach that left one man dead and another wounded.

Vai Ho-Ching of Long Beach is charged with one count each of murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. He is set to be arraigned July 7 at the Long Beach courthouse.

Ho-Ching was arrested last Thursday afternoon near his home and has remained behind bars since then.

“Detectives are actively investigating and believe there may be additional suspects,'' police said in a statement released late last week. “Detectives will continue to evaluate evidence and seek out additional witnesses until everyone who played a role in the murder has been arrested.''

The shooting occurred about 1:30 a.m. April 2 near the 1900 block of Canal Avenue, where officers were sent on a report of shots fired. The officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds to their upper bodies, police said.

Daniel Jacinto, 40, of Long Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other man, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.

Investigators said they believed the victims and the suspect knew each other and the shooting stemmed from a dispute between them.
