LONG BEACH (CNS) - A Long Beach man pleaded not guilty today to killing his roommate.

Eric Doore, 51, is charged in the May 23 slaying of Ricky Rodriguez, who was stabbed in the upper body.

The 67-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene in the 2100 block of Williams Street.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, the victim and his male adult roommate were both inside of their residence when a dispute ensued and escalated to a stabbing,'' according to a statement released last month by the Long Beach Police Department.

Doore was arrested early the next morning and has remained behind bars since then, jail records show.

He was charged May 26 with murder.
