One Person Dead, One Hospitalized in Early Morning Shooting

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Two people were shot this morning outside a 7-Eleven store in the Vermont-Slauson area of South Los Angeles, and one of the victims died at the scene, police said.

The shooting occurred about 2:50 a.m. in the 6200 block of Figueroa Street, according to Sgt. J. Garcia of the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Street Station.

The man who died was in his 30s, CBS2 reported. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The wounded victim was taken by paramedics to a hospital for treatment, Garcia said.

A black SUV was seen speeding away from the scene, CBS2 reported.

No suspect information was immediately available.
