Expect Long Lines If You're Flying During Memorial Day Weekend

While millions of Americans are getting ready to kick off a three-day weekend, employees of the Transportation Security Administration aren't so lucky...

The TSA has staffed U.S. airports with extra workers for Memorial Day weekend in hopes to help with an expected surge of restless travelers, says Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

“People will see lines because there’s going to be a tremendous amount of people traveling this weekend,” Mayorkas says. “Patience is required.”

Also required: face masks.

Although states all over the country have dropped mask mandates, the federal government still requires them in airports, Mayorkas adds.

“That's going to hold true probably until mid-September," he said.
