Registered Sex Offender Pleads Guilty to Exposing Himself in Santa Ana

SANTA ANA (CNS) - A convicted sex offender pleaded guilty today andwas immediately sentenced to six months in jail for exposing himself in Santa Ana.

Johnathan Christian Hattaway pleaded guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor count of lewd conduct in a public place. As part of the plea deal a felony count of indecent exposure with a prior conviction and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct for loitering on private property and trespassing with the intent to interfere with business were dismissed, according to court records.

Hattaway was also placed on one year of formal probation.

Hattaway pleaded guilty Oct. 12, 2018, to indecent exposure, child annoyance and attempted indecent exposure, all misdemeanors. He violated probation twice, according to court records.

In a probation violation petition in June 2019, Hattaway was accused of erasing his online searches to illicit websites, a violation of the terms of his probation. He also tested positive for cocaine in a drug test and had failed to keep his GPS monitoring device charged, according to the petition.

Hattaway had been staying at the Courtyard shelter in Santa Ana while he was on probation. He was on GPS monitoring as he attended sex offender treatments as well as 12-step meetings.
