Firefighters Quickly Contain Two Small Brush Fires Near Dodger Stadium

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Firefighters knocked down one small brush fire near Dodger Stadium in 31 minutes today and another in 40 minutes.

The Broadway Fire was reported at about 4:30 p.m. in one-quarter to one-half-acre of brush near 1381 N. Broadway, near Los Angeles State Historic Park, Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

The fire burned less than an acre of brush and was knocked down in 31 minutes by 40 firefighters, Humphrey said.

There was no fire damage to critical communications infrastructure on Radio Hill, Humphrey said.

The Stadium Way Fire was reported at about 4:55 p.m., erupting in medium to heavy brush near the northbound Arroyo Seco (110) Parkway and Stadium Way, less than a mile from the Broadway Fire.

The 60-ground-based firefighters facing 10 mph winds knocked down the fire in 40 minutes. It burned less than 1 acre of medium-to-heavy brush, Humphrey said.

No structures were damaged in either fire and no injures were reported.

The causes of both fires were under investigation.
