California Tree Trimmer Charged in Throat Slashing Spree

A California man who makes his living trimming trees has been charged with committing a string of fatal throat slashings, according to prosecutors.

Oroville resident Ryan Scott Blinston is facing charges of murder, attempted murder and arson in connection with the crimes, which occurred last year. Prosecutors say after Blinston trimmed clients' trees, he'd return to the their homes and slash their throats.

“As the team approached the motorhome, they heard the muffled screams of a man inside and loud banging on the outside of the motorhome. The banging turned out to be Blinston attempting to get into the motorhome with a hatchet,” the district attorneys’ statement said.

He's accused of killing at least three people and leaving a few others seriously injured, court paperwork indicates.

Blinston, who has not offered a reason for the attacks, faces a prison sentence of life without parole if he's convicted.
