One Killed in Multi-Vehicle Freeway Crash in Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA (CNS) - One person was killed in a six-vehicle crash on the eastbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway in Santa Monica that closed a stretch of the highway for more than five hours before reopening this morning.

The crash was reported about 10 p.m. Wednesday near Centinela Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Details of what led to the crash were not immediately available.

A witness told the CHP at least one person was trapped in a vehicle.

A SigAlert was issued for all eastbound lanes of the Santa Monica Freeway just west of Centinela Avenue just after 10 p.m. All lanes were reopened about 3:25 a.m.
