Fire Damages House, Apartment Building in Westlake District

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Fire damaged a vacant house in the Westlake District this morning, but no one was hurt.

Firefighters sent to the 100 block of Virgil Avenue about 5:30 a.m. extinguished the flames in 44 minutes, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The house fire resulted in some minor heat damage to the exterior of a nearby four-story apartment building, the LAFD reported. Some firefighters remained on scene dousing hot spots.

The cause was under investigation.
