Inglewood Cops on Lookout for St. Patrick's Day Drunken Drivers

INGLEWOOD (CNS) - As Inglewood residents celebrate St. Patrick's Day today, police will be looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Stepped-up enforcement begins at 7 p.m. and continues through 3 a.m. Thursday, the Inglewood Police Department said in a statement.

“If drinking is part of your plans, plan on designating a sober driver and find a safe way home,'' Chief Mark Fronterotta said. “Don't make poor choices and allow yourself to mix alcohol or drugs with driving.''

Drivers arrested and convicted of DUI could end up paying $15,000 or more in attorneys' fees, fines, court costs, insurance-rate hikes and vehicle repairs, the statement said.

“It's simple: don't drink and drive, '' Fronterotta said. “Stay at home or find a sober driver to take you home.''

On St. Patrick's Day 2019, seven people were killed and 116 others injured in California in crashes caused by drunken drivers, the department said.
