Fire Damages Unused Railroad Ties at Lumber Yard in Vernon

VERNON (CNS) - A fire damaged more than 100 unused railroad ties at a lumber yard in the Vernon area today, but no one was hurt.

Firefighters sent to the 3500 block of East Washington Boulevard at 9:20 a.m. extinguished the fire in about half an hour, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
