L.A. County Average Gas Price Up for 36th Time in 37 Days

Holiday Travelers Benefit As Gas Prices Continue To Fall

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 20th consecutive day and 36th time in 37 days, increasing a four-tenths of a cent to $3.520, its highest amount since March 7.

The average price has risen 28.9 cents over the past 37 days, including a half-cent on Sunday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 4.8 cents more than one week ago and 25.3 cents higher than one month ago, but 5.8 cents less than one year ago.

The Orange County average price decreased by a half-cent -- ending a streak of 33 straight daily hikes. It's still at its highest amount since March 4.

It has increased 27.7 cents over the past 34 days, including four-tenths of a cent on Sunday. The Orange County average price is 4.1 cents more than one week ago and 24.3 cents higher than a month ago, but 2.3 cents less than one year ago.
