Average L.A. County Gas Price Up for 30th Time in 31 Days

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 14th consecutive day and 30th time in the past 31 days, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $3.476, its highest amount since March 11.

The average price has risen 24.5 cents over the past 31 days, including four-tenths of a cent on Monday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.7 cents more than one week ago and 24.5 cents higher than one month ago, but 10.9 cents less than one year ago.

The Orange County average price increased a half-cent to $3.459, its highest amount since March 9 and the 28th consecutive daily increase. It is 6.8 cents more than one week ago and 23.9 cents higher than a month ago, but seven cents less than one year ago.

The rising prices are the result of some refinery trouble, the impending switch to summer-blend gasoline and the lifting of the state's stay-at-home orders that increased demand, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
