A man who took part in the riot at the U.S. Capitol last week has turned himself in and is now refusing to eat jail food unless it’s organic. Jacob Anthony Chansley, also known as Jake Angeli, from Arizona stormed the Capitol wearing a furry horned-hat, face paint, no shirt and carrying a U.S. flag topped with a spear.
Chansley has been charged with:
Knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, and with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
He made his first court appearance today and has been refusing to eat since his arrest. Judge Deborah Fine has ordered the prison to accommodate his organic-food demands and finds his fasting “deeply concerning”. Chansley’s mother told reporters outside the courthouse that her son “gets very sick if he doesn’t eat organic food.”
U.S. Marshal for the District of Arizona says the judge’s orders to feed Chansley organic food would be met:
'We will abide by the judge's order."
