HBO Max Orders New `Chapter' of `Sex and the City'

BURBANK (CNS) - What is being billed as “a new chapter” of “Sex and the City” reuniting original cast members Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis has been given a series order by HBO Max, the streaming service announced today.  

“And Just Like That...” will follow Carrie (Parker), Miranda (Nixon) and Charlotte (Davis) “as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s,” according to HBO Max.  

Michael Patrick King, an executive producer of “Sex and the City,” and director of its film adaptation and follow-up “Sex and the City 2,” will be an executive producer of “And Just Like That...” Parker, Davis and Nixon will also be executive producers.  

The 10-episode, half-hour series is scheduled to begin production in New York late spring.  

“Sex and the City” aired on HBO from 1998-2004, winning seven Emmys, including outstanding comedy series in 2001, outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for Parker and outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series for Nixon, both in 2004.
