SANTA FE SPRINGS (CNS) - Sheriff's deputies today chased a car occupied by “armed and dangerous'' suspects and took five people into custody in the Santa Fe Springs area after forcing the sedan to stop on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway.
The chase ended shortly before noon on the northbound 5 Freeway, north of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Deputies from the sheriff's Norwalk Station began chasing the black Lexus about a half-hour earlier on surface streets and then onto the northbound freeway.
A short time later, a patrol vehicle pulled alongside the sedan, and the driver was forced to stop. After a brief standoff, the driver and four passengers surrendered.
