BELLFLOWER (CNS) - A 49-year-old woman was killed when her vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle on the Artesia (91) Freeway in Bellflower and alcohol or drugs did not appear to be factors in the fatality crash, the California Highway Patrol said today.

The crash on the eastbound freeway, east of Bellflower Boulevard, occurred at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, the CHP reported.

The woman was driving a Toyota Sienna, which had come to a stop in traffic lanes for an unknown reason, when her minivan was rear ended by a Toyota Solara. The woman, who remained seated her vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was later identified as Arnie Espiritu, of San Pedro, according to the coroner's office.

The driver of the Toyota Solara, a 34-year-old man, suffered minor injuries, complaining of pain to his chest and right ankle. Both drivers wore seatbelts.

Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be contributing factors to the crash, the CHP said.

The CHP's Santa Fe Springs office urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at 562-868-0503.
