ROWLAND HEIGHTS (CNS) - A deputy-involved shooting occurred in the unincorporated Rowland Heights area and at least one person was injured, authorities said today.

The shooting was reported at 11:50 p.m. Sunday at Batson Avenue and Colima Road, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman.

One person was injured and taken by paramedics to a trauma center, Pittman said.

News videographers at the scene told City News Service they believed the suspect was dead at the scene, which Pittman could not confirm.

The Sheriff's Information Bureau said the shooting occurred at 11:47 p.m. in the 1900 block of Baston Avenue but offered no other details hours after the shooting.

But CBS2 reported the man was suspected of kidnapping and assaulting his girlfriend Saturday and that he was shot and killed by deputies Sunday night.
