Police Lights and Sirens Law Enforcements

TUSTIN (CNS) - A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Tustin and a stretch of the freeway was closed this morning until further notice.

Officers received a call of a pedestrian down in lanes near Tustin Ranch Road about 11:50 p.m Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol Sgt. Jin Kawanaka.

“It appears one vehicle ran into the back of a semi-truck,'' Kawanaka told reporters at the scene Friday morning. It was unclear if the victim was thrown from his SUV or exited the vehicle after the crash and was struck by passing vehicles.

The age and name of the victim were not disclosed.

The southbound lanes of the freeway were closed at Tustin Ranch Road until further notice, Kawanaka said.
