Motorist Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in La Habra

LA HABRA (CNS) - A 31-year-old motorist was killed this morning when he crashed his pickup truck into the back of an SUV that was stopped in a La Habra intersection. The crash was reported at 2:45 a.m. at Lambert Road and Harbor Boulevard, said Cpl. Billy Phu of the Fullerton Police Department, which is investigating the crash.

A white Toyota 4Runner was stopped at a red light in a northbound lane of Harbor Boulevard when the driver of a black Toyota Tacoma pickup truck rear-ended his SUV at a high rate of speed, Phu said. The Tacoma driver was pronounced dead at the scene, he said. The driver of the 4Runner suffered minor injuries and remained at the scene to assist investigators, Phu said.

Police do not suspect alcohol as a factor in the crash but do believe speed was an issue, he said. The name of the deceased driver was not released pending notification of relatives.

The investigation was ongoing and anyone with information was asked to call Fullerton police Investigator C. Keen at 714-738-6812.
