AZUSA (CNS) - A 43-year-old convicted sex offender was arrested today for failing to register as such, which is required by California law.

Santiago Acuna was convicted in 2009 of forcible rape, sexual penetration with a foreign object and sexual battery, according to Lt. Robert Chivas of the Azusa Police Department.

Acuna was booked at the Azusa jail for the sex offender registration violation, and was released later in the day due to California's zero-bail order during the COVID-19 pandemic.
