The US Government Plans to Execute the First Woman in Almost 70 Years

The Department of Justice announced that it has scheduled the first federal execution of a woman in almost 70 years.

the execution of Lisa Montgomery was sentenced for killing soon to be mother, Bobbie Jo Stinnett, cutting out the baby from her wound and pretending the baby was her own.

Montgomery later confessed to the murder, though the defense attorneys claimed she suffered from a condition called pseudocyesis where a woman falsely believes she is pregnant and shows outward signs of pregnancy.

Montgomery is only the third woman ever on death row in the federal prison system.
