CA Officials order the removal of Unauthorized Ballot Boxes

A cease and desist order has been served to California Republican Party and local GOP officials to remove recently discovered unofficial ballot boxes.

Located in Orange, Los Angeles, and Fresno counties. The boxes were created in efforts to ensure Republican votes would not be tampered with by Democratic suppression.

“The problem here is with voters unknowingly delivering their ballots to an unofficial drop box mislabeled and misrepresented as an official drop box, they do not know who it is they’re surrendering their ballot,” Secretary of State of California Alex Padilla said.

The Republican Party claimed their association with “ballot-harvesting” which allows individuals to turn in ballots for other registered voters. The official bill, Assembly Bill 1921, reads “A voter who is unable to return his or her vote by mail ballot may designate his or her spouse, child, parent, grandparent, grandchild, brother, sister, or person residing in the same household as the vote by mail voter to return the vote by mail ballot.”

Official mail-in vote boxes can be found on the CA Secretary of State official website.
