Police Announce Death of 23-Year-Old Victim of Pacoima Drive-By Shooting

PACOIMA (CNS) - A 23-year-old man who was wounded in a Pacoima drive-by shooting died at a hospital three days later, and the killer remains at large, police reported today.

Rony Jovel was shot about 5:30 a.m. Sept 13 in the 12500 block of De Garmo Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

Investigators say Jovel was waiting for a ride with a friend when two unidentified suspects approached in a white sedan and asked the pair if they were in a gang,

“Jovel and his friend, who have no gang ties, replied `no.' One of the suspects shot at Jovel with a handgun, striking him,'' then drove off, police said.
